AYALA LAND, DOTC SIGN BUS HUB CONTRACT – ARCA SOUTH

MANILA – Ayala Land Inc. (ALI) and the Department of Transportation and Communications (DOTC) have signed the concession agreement for the South Integrated Transport System (ITS).

The 35-year concession agreement was signed following Ayala Land‘s submission of the lowest annual grantor payment at P277.9 million and the fulfillment of all post-award requirements.

The construction of the transport terminal within a 5.57-hectare lot along FTI Compound, Taguig is scheduled to begin in September this year.

Aside from the design, construction, and operations and maintenance of the terminal, the project also covers the construction of arrival and departure bays, public information systems, ticketing and baggage facilities and park-ride facilities.

“With the South ITS connecting different modes of transportation and services, we can guarantee the public more efficient and seamless transfers. It will also improve traffic flow and reduce congestion in Metro Manila, as it will serve as a transfer point for provincial buses entering the metropolis,” Transportation Secretary Jun Abaya said.

The South ITS aims to decongest main roads by connecting passengers traveling from neighboring provinces such as Laguna and Batangas to other modes of transport including buses, taxis and jeepneys.
